Jingle All the Way
A movie that is all about the commercialism of Christmas. A father forgets to pick up the toy his wife mentioned to him weeks ago, and is now stuck in the race of all time to find the sold out toy before the stores close.
There is really a lot more to say about this movie that isn't good than there is good.
1, The next door neighbour begins to "move in" on his wife all throughout the movie.
2, Another father looking for the same toy claims his disastrous life is due to not getting a toy he wanted when he was a kid
3, The movie promotes the father becoming the hero when he gives his son the ultimate toy... An exclusive TURBO MAN doll.
The movie clearly makes an elaborate attempt at exaggerating the lengths people will go to to get the toy the will make them the hero in their child's life. Sadly, however, it isn't all that exaggerated.
How many times we try to be the hero in our children's lives not just with toys but with time, money, responsibility, discipline and other areas where we let the kids "get away" with things, or we let " things slide" . What are we teaching our kids? Are we any better than the dad who buys his kid the toys he wants?

I think the dad in the pic at the bottom of this post looks like a hero to me :) He can lead by his example because he's with them and available to them. He won't be perfect but he's there to give it a try...God being his helper!
