My family of origin is complicated to say the least I ahve biological grandparents, step grandparents, grandparents from Czech republic. I have quite a few aunts and uncles, some of which I have never even met. My parents are now both passed away and I rarely speak with my brother.
But my married family is another story. I call them kin. I am closer with my mother in law than I ever was with my bio mom. I have cousins that we break bread with often. I facetime and text my sister in law at least weekly.
Kin is a blessing.
